The Bible Says Get Back in the Kitchen!

Pastor Steven Anderson of the Faithful Word Baptist Church in Tempe, Arizona recently gave a misogynistic (though typical) sermon on the qualities of a “virtuous woman.”

Hightlights

  • Repeatedly tells women it is their duty in life to cook for husband and children
  • States that the public school system is literally run by Satan (and bad mothers don’t homeschool their kids)
  • Equates women who talk back to husbands with forms of water torture
  • Says he won’t allow his daughters to become independent women

Here is our response:

(And in the waterboarding sketch, yes, we did it for real.)

A virtuous woman is one who has a plan! A plan for breakfast, a plan for lunch, a plan for dinner!
- Pastor Steven Anderson

Prick.

  1. Not all Christians are misogynists. And many atheists have maintain that cooking is a natural function of women as “nurturers”–though subjecting nutrients to fire and intense heat is not my idea of being “nurturing.”
